Communications: Communication is one of the most used things in the world nowadays it is also very useful. There are so many ways to communicate from land lines and mobile to computers and laptops. It is coming more and more poplar every day with Smartphone’s they can do the same as a landline and laptop put together while on the move, you can send e-mails, images, videos and make phone calls.
Advantage: The advantages are that e-mails are free; it’s a lot quicker to communicate than letters and cheaper
Manufacturing: ICT is used so much in the manufacturing industry from the making of materials and even shipping them out. ICT speeds up everything because its all machines used now which are mostly run by computers so there for the information of the product is saved and the machine just repeats its self to speed up the process
Advantage: That the company can produce the materials quicker and to a better quality.
Disadvantage: People losing there jobs cause of the computers running there machines.
Shopping: The usage of ICT in a supermarket has increased so much from the tills to self checkouts. The self checkouts are becoming more and more popular in supermarkets. The tills also have bigger and better technology which makes it easier on the employees.
And also shopping on the internet it is also very good because it is far hander because you can do it from the house which is good because if you had a disability you can still do your shopping and get it delivered.
Advantage: Are that the speed off your shop increased so much from the self checkouts. And the tills with the better technology have also increased the speed. Advantages of online you don’t have to leave your house and is quicker.
Disadvantage: Is that the cost on electric of running the equipment and checkouts, and also the employees losing there jobs cause of the self checkouts. Disadvantages of shopping online is you don’t get to see what you are buying say if you were buying fruit you don’t get to see is it damaged or not and another on is that your bank details are on the internet
Medicine: The use of ICT has also helped in hospitals and in the doctors it is used in many ways from getting your past record up to production your prescription. It makes it easier for them to find the patients and there records because there all saved on a data base and all you do is type it the name and the patient appears.
Advantage: The advantages are that it speeds up the whole process of booking some one in.
Disadvantage: The disadvantage is that it is very easy to make mistakes and enter some ones details in wrong and then there can be loads of mistakes like if you move house and don’t tell them your appointment letters could be sent to your wrong address .
Banking: Banking has changed so much in the last couple of years people use E-Banking far more now because it is a lot quicker because you can transfer money from one account to another, you can also pay for a lot of your needs by E-Banking such as buying food clothes or even a car.
Advantage: It is very quick and easy to use and you can use it at your home you don’t have to travel
Disadvantage: Are that some times it’s not safe because there is a lot of hackers in the world that can cheat you in to buying goods and then you pay and don’t receive your goods.
Social Networking: Social networking has now become the norm for young people nowadays there are over 900 million (Social Networking websites and continuing to grow on a huge scale with Facebook recently announcing that they have now reached over 400 million worldwide users and Twitter soon to be reaching the benchmark of 50 million tweets per day.)
These figures are amazingly big, this is a good and bad thing there because the internet can be used for lots of different thing good and bad good things are that you can view you friends and family from any were in the world there are a lot more good uses of the internet etc. the bad things are that it can be used for some many to break the law from cyber bulling to any thing like identity theft or even robbing your bank details
Advantage: Are you can stay in contact with friends and family you can also view pictures from the past etc.
Disadvantage: Are people can hack in to you personal information and as said above can lead to identity theft or robbing. It is also very open because any one can access your information; look at your pictures etc. It is very open to the public
